Surgical Treatment
1) Vertebroplasty :
(i) Used in compression fracture after 2 weeks of initial trauma and upto 8 weeks.
(ii) Percutaneous Technique of injecting special medical grade bone cement in fractured vertebrae.
(iii) Cement, which hardens stabilises the Vertebral Column.
Advantage :
1) Reduce or eliminate pain , enabling rapid return to mobility and preventing bone loss due to bed rest.
Disadvantage:
1) It does not correct the spinal deformity.
