Surgical Treatment
1) Kyphoplasty :
(i) Used in compression fracture after 2 weeks of initial trauma and upto 8 weeks.
(ii) Percutaneous Technique of inserting an inflatable bone tamp.
(iii) Once inflated the tamp restores the vertebral body back to its original height, while creating a cavity to be filled by bone cement .
iv) The cement seals off cracks and cavities and prevents the vertebrae from re collapsing
